Read Chapters 3 & 4 in FD
- What is ironic about the way that slaves argue amongst themselves regarding the greatness of their masters?
- a-Who is Mr. Gore? b-What does Mr. Gore do to Demby? c-How does Mr. Gore explain his actions to the master?
- What other examples does Frederick Douglass offer regarding the helplessness of slaves under the law? Be specific.
- Douglass states that a slave must “never answer a word” to any unjust complaints of the master. Provide four examples (total) from Chapters 3 and 4 that show how the slaves were silenced, both socially and legally.
Sophomores:
