EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY!!!! Find the text of an allusion in "I Have a Dream."  Write a short summary of the piece and explain why it was alluded to in the speech.

This chapter is about Pauline Breedlove-- the narrator switches from a third person narrator to a first person narrator throughout.  The first person narration is in italics.  
1.  What is the difference between the information found in the third person narration and the first person narration?  Why do you think that Morrison chose to do this?
2. How did Pauline and Cholly meet?  What do you think of their relationship? Include information found at the end of the chapter.
3.  How did the movies change Pauline's outlook on life?
4.  What was Pauline's relationship to her children, even from the beginning?

Chapter 3
1 Elie is interrogated by an inmate at Auschwitz. Why do you think the inmate tells Elie to lie about his age?
2 Elie is questioned by the "notorious" Dr. Mengele. What makes the doctor notorious? What role did he play in the Holocaust? (Do some research)
3 How does Elie know to lie to the SS officer about his age and profession?  Do you think he made the right decision?
